A loan deal to Newcastle could have been smarter for Tottenham considering Kyle Walker’s current status.

Tottenham Hotspur’s scouts liked what they saw of DeAndre Yedlin at the 2014 World Cup and signed him from the Seattle Sounders weeks later.
He only joined up a few months later, and the following summer found himself pushed down the pecking order by the arrival of Kieran Tripper.
Faced with being third choice, Yedlin sought to move on last summer and Spurs took the decision to sell him to Newcastle United.

Yet recent events surrounding Kyle Walker could make Tottenham regret the decision to sell the American, and not loan him instead.
Walker has reportedly fallen out with head coach Mauricio Pochettino, with The Sun reporting their relationship is ‘almost untenable’ as Manchester City plot a summer bid.

The England international has been left out of key matches against Chelsea and Arsenal, with Kieran Trippier preferred.
It is fortunate for Tottenham that they have a ready made replacement for Walker in Kieran Trippier, but they will need to find a back up for him.
If they had DeAndre Yedlin returning from a season long loan this summer, they would be in an ideal situation.
The full-back has flourished at Newcastle, and his rapid pace could actually have been ideal for playing at wing-back in Tottenham’s frequently adopted 3-5-2 formation.
Spurs received just £5 million for Yedlin’s sale, and right now the defender may have been more useful to still have on their books than the cash in the bank.
