Spurs striker Llorente is wanted by La Liga side Valencia.

Fernando Llorente is reportedly a target for Spanish side Valencia as Tottenham Hotspur look to sell the forward before the end of his contract in June – and that could help Spurs’ London rivals West Ham in a transfer pursuit of their own.

Spanish outlet El Desmarque have claimed 33-year-old striker Llorente is on Valencia’s shortlist this month, with the 2010 World Cup winners made surplus to requirements this month (Sky Sports).

Since joining Spurs in the summer of 2017, Llorente has played 41 times for Tottenham in all competitions, scoring six goals. He has struggled – as did Vincent Janssen – as Harry Kane’s back-up.

If Valencia sign the former Juventus and Athletic Bilbao striker from Spurs, then that could give West Ham an enormous boost in their reported pursuit of a Belgian striker – who joined Chelsea for £33million in 2016 (Guardian).

The Daily Mail claim West Ham are interested in signing Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea this month, with the 25-year-old expected to return to Chelsea as he continues to struggle on loan at Valencia.

So, if Spurs allow Llorente to move to Valencia, that may see the Spanish outfit decide to cancel the loan of Batshuayi – who has managed just three goals in 21 league and cup appearances.

West Ham’s move for the ex-Lille striker depends on whether he returns to Chelsea, with his future at Stamford Bridge unlikely as Maurizio Sarri’s side currently boast Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.

But Llorente joining Valencia will surely convince Chelsea to recall Batshuayi and that will give West Ham an enormous boost in their bid to sign Batshuayi.
