Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly consider substantial offers for Moussa Sissoko in the summer.
According to a recent report from the London Evening Standard, Tottenham are planning to listen to offers for 12 players during the summer as Mauricio Pochettino considers an overhaul of his squad.
Some of the names are not at all surprising. Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou have looked exit-bound for a long time, while others such as Erik Lamela and Serge Aurier have struggled for consistency, whether that be with their form or fitness.
But the report also suggested that Moussa Sissoko could find himself on the move if a substantial bid is made. It is not clear what figure Daniel Levy and Pochettino consider to be substantial in the Frenchman’s case, but after this season, it is perhaps fair to say that it could prove to be a serious mistake to let Sissoko leave.
His transformation over the last year has been astounding. It had seemed to be a matter of time before Spurs offloaded the 29-year-old, but he has fought back and become a key player in Pochettino’s side.
It has now got to the stage where replacing him could prove to be an incredibly difficult task depending on how much money Pochettino has to spend in the summer.
Of course, Spurs’ asking price may make a move incredibly unlikely anyway. But having waited so long for the midfielder to prove how important he can be, it could be a terrible move to consider letting him leave now that he is silencing so many of his critics.
