Rangers have reportedly scouted Norwich City midfielder Graham Dorrans – but Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray may be keen on a reunion.

Tony Mowbray jumped at the chance to bring one of Scottish football’s most exciting youngsters to The Hawthorns in January 2008. After all, dynamic central midfielder Graham Dorrans had got scouts salivating after impressing with Livingston and it appeared a matter of time before he earned himself a big move elsewhere.

And although Mowbray had departed the club the season before Dorrans enjoyed the most prolific season of his career, netting 18 times for West Brom in 2009/10, you get the feeling that the current Blackburn Rovers boss would jump at the chance of a reunion.

“Graham only gets into our squad because of his talent; he shows it on the training ground,” Mowbray said in 2008, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

“He’s outstanding on the pitch with his ability to manipulate the ball, create and play clever disguised passes.”

And, as his struggling Blackburn side prepared to face Dorrans’ current club, Norwich City, Mowbray once again paid tribute to the ‘fantastic’ 29-year-old nine years after he signed him, as reported by the Lancashire Telegraph.

Therefore, with the Scottish Sun reporting that he will be allowed to leave Norwich in the summer, it would be no surprise if Blackburn make their interest known – even if they suffer relegation from the Championship this season.

The Scottish Sun claims that Rangers sent newly appointed coach Jonathan Johansson to watch Dorrans in action during Norwich’s 3-1 win against Preston recently. The Scotland international, who netted at Deepdale, has reportedly been identified as a primary summer target by Gers boss Pedro Caixinha.

He’d certainly add more energy and drive to a midfield lacking any semblance of a goal threat this season.

Though, with Mowbray desperately in need of reinforcements, it would be no surprise if Rangers had competition for Dorrans’ signature.
