Everton midfielder will want to sort his future soon with Tottenham interested.

According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are delaying significant transfer announcements until July 1, to coincide with their kit launch.

This may explain why Spurs are yet to make any signings yet this summer, and could give hope to Everton fans that the future of Ross Barkley will finally be resolved.

Barkley has refused to sign a new contract at Everton, and has remained totally silent on his future.

This week he even deleted his Instagram accounts, the Liverpool Echo reported, as speculation over his future intensifies.

Reasons for wanting to get a deal sorted quickly vary, but the main advantage from Tottenham’s perspective is to ensure Barkley can join the team for pre-season training.

Barkley has made clear he is not committed to Everton long-term, and he too would surely rather avoid a return to a club which he knows is already making steps to move on without him.

The main obstacle for a deal is Tottenham and Everton finding an agreement on a price tag, with the Toffees driving a hard bargain.

Footmercato report Tottenham are stepping up their transfer activity in relation to winger Vincent Marcel, and similar focus could well be going on with regard to getting Barkley in this week. Doing so would bring a swift end to a transfer saga which has the potential to drag out to deadline day.
