With Tottenham Hotspur tipped to strenghten in the role – could the following Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Bristol City players feature on their list of targets?
Tottenham Hotspur will sign a left-back this summer, if recent reports are anything to go by.
In April alone, Spurs have been linked with moves for Ryan Bertrand, Arthur Masuaku and Kenedy among others, as uncertainty continues to surround the future of Danny Rose.
There are still a few however whose names have yet to be mentioned. Are these three next?
Ben Chilwell (Leicester City)
The 21-year-old has made Leicester’s left-back slot his own in the latter part of the season, having begun it as Christian Fuchs’s understudy. An England Under-21 international, Chilwell likes to get forward and is arguably a more natural defender than Rose – albeit one who is not quite as quick. Leicester will surely be keen to keep him, mind.
Patrick van Aanholt (Crystal Palace)
The Dutchman is, as today’s kids say, ‘pure gas’ – a characteristic Spurs will likely prioritise when searching for Rose’s successor. That said, Van Aanholt is a little older than average Mauricio Pochettino signing (28 in August) – although he’s a potential bargain if Palace somehow go down.
Joe Bryan (Bristol City)
Tentatively linked with Tottenham in January, Bryan’s name could resurface in the coming weeks if Bristol City miss out on promotion. Like Rose, the 24-year-old is very much an attack-minded full-back, who’s spent time on the left of midfield this season. Bryan possesses an arrow-like left foot and, somewhat unsually, a lob wedge of a right, which have delivered a number of aesthetically pleasing strikes down the years.
