John Terry has helped convince Jack Grealish to leave Aston Villa for the Premier League, so could he also help push through a move to Chelsea?

Jack Grealish is ready to leave Aston Villa this summer and return to the Premier League to kickstart his career, according to the Mirror.

Financially stricken Villa are willing to cash in on Grealish too as they hope to spark a bidding war for the midfielder and receive far more than the £24m Leicester City recently paid Norwich City for fellow Championship star James Maddison.

Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be leading the race for the 22-year-old’s signature, with manager Mauricio Pochettino viewing the England Under-21 international as the ideal competition for Dele Alli.

However, chairman Daniel Levy – well renowned as a canny negotiator – is yet to make an opening offer as he looks to capitalise on the Villans’ money problems to land Grealish for a cut-price fee.

West Ham United are also thought to be keeping tabs, with the youngster’s former captain John Terry supposedly having had a great influence on the decision.

Terry, who was Grealish’s skipper at Villa Park during the 2017/18 season, has urged the midfield ace to return to the top flight of English football to help boost his national team ambitions.

The influence of Terry

With the veteran defender apparently having such a strong bond with Grealish, could this be of benefit to the 37-year-old’s former club Chelsea – who themselves were linked with a move by TEAMtalk earlier this month.

The Blues are reportedly ready to spend £30m and are willing to loan the player back to the Birmingham club for the next 12 months as part of the deal.
