Rafael Benitez has reportedly drawn up a list of targets at Newcastle United.

The growing reports that Newcastle United are edging closer to being taken over by Amanda Staveley have caused great excitement on Tyneside, but her interest may have come at an inopportune time.
Mike Ashley is said by The Times to be willing to sell Newcastle, but there is much work to be done before any deal can be completed.

Staveley’s interest is still in its early stages, and it could be a lengthy period of time before a deal with Ashley is settled.
Ashley is said to want to sell Newcastle before January, but if the negotiations are protracted then it is surely bad news for Rafael Benitez’s transfer hopes.

But Ashley has been criticised for a lack of investment before, and with so much uncertainty surrounding his ownership of the club – there has to be a question over whether he will back Benitez with funds, if there are still doubts over how longer he will be at the helm.
