Bryan Oviedo insisted that he would look to leave Sunderland if a Premier League offer was made and The Black Cats already have a replacement.
Sunderland left-back Bryan Oviedo wasted no time in making clear that he sees his future in the Premier League.
Therefore, why the Costa Rican thought it was a good idea to swap Everton for The Black Cats midway through a season that only looked like ending in disaster for David Moyes’ side is anyone’s guess.
“I have a contract with Sunderland, it is a great team with very good infrastructure, the only problem was the relegation,” Oviedo, who was brought in to replace Crystal Palace-bound Patrick Van Aanholt in January, told the Sunderland Echo.

“If I have to continue in the Championship, it is a great league but I will always look for the option to remain in the Premier League.”
And while no such offers appear to have arrived just yet, it appears that Sunderland have paved the way for Leighton Baines’ one-time understudy to seek a move elsewhere.
The BBC reports that Simon Grayson’s side have signed Everton youngster Brendan Galloway on a season-long loan deal. The 21-year-old struggled to make an impression during a temporary spell at West Brom last season but could prove a far more astute addition for a cash-strapped side crying out for defensive reinforcements.
Galloway can play at centre-half but made most of his 21 appearances for The Toffees at left-back. His energy and tenacious defensive could make him a solid addition to a defence that conceded 69 league goals last season.
And Galloway’s arrival means that, if a Premier League offer does come in for Oviedo, Sunderland already have a readymade replacement at hand.

Whether any top flight clubs would be willing to take a chance on a player who has made 39 league starts in five years is another matter entirely.
