Sunderland are looking to the Scottish market and Leigh Griffiths has lost his starting place at Celtic since Brendan Rodgers took charge.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Sunderland will be making use of the Scottish market this summer – as they look to use David Moyes’ contacts.

Moyes is keen to look north of the border, where he feels some good additions can be made.

Sunderland are already prepping a bid for Hibernian’s Jason Cummings, and if Moyes is looking north than he will surely have one eye on Celtic’s squad.

Celtic have been the dominant force in Scotland this season, and unquestionably have more quality at their disposal than any other side in the SPFL.

Brendan Rodgers has plans to make Celtic even more of a force next term too, and these transfers could make some of the Bhoys’ fringe players available.

One particularly interesting transfer which Celtic appear to be lining up is that of Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke (Daily Record).

Solanke is regarded as one of the brightest up-and-coming English prospects, and his arrival may just cause concern for Leigh Griffiths.

Griffiths has already lost his starting place to Moussa Dembele this season, and has begun to express his frustrations at being unable to play frequently.

As a result, the prolific forward may well come on to Sunderland’s radar this summer.

Griffiths hit over 40 goals two seasons ago, and he has still reached double figures this term – despite not featuring frequently.

Griffiths has previous Championship experience, and if Sunderland are looking to add a new striker from Scotland, then it may be wise to test Celtic’s resolve by making a bid for the 26-year-old.
