Stoke City manager Gary Rowett raves about Derby County’s Matej Vydra.

Matej Vydra’s proposed move to Leeds United may have collapsed, as reported by Sky Sports, but the Derby County forward could have a new suitor in Stoke City.
According to Sky Sports, Vydra’s £11 million move from Derby to Championship rivals Leeds did not go through due to the forward failing to agree personal terms with the West Yorkshire outfit.
The 26-year-old former Watford forward, though, could have a new suitor in Stoke, with manager Gary Rowett – who managed him at Derby last season – sharing his admiration of the Czech Republic international.
The Derby Telegraph has quoted Rowett as saying about Vydra: “He’s been available since the start of the summer if you’re prepared to pay the money. Matty is a terrific player and I have got a really good relationship with him.
“Some reports earlier in the summer said ‘Rowett fell out with Vydra’ and ‘Rowett fell out with his agent’, but nothing could be further from the truth.”

Stoke City move for Derby County’s Matej Vydra?
Vydra played well for Derby last season when Rowett was in charge, and it would make sense for the Stoke manager to make a move for him.
After all, with the Potters aiming to bounce straight back to the Premier League, they could do with someone like the 26-year-old who knows the Championship and has been successful in the division, even though they do have forwards such as Peter Crouch and Benik Afobe and are not exactly short in that area.
During the 2017-18 season, the forward scored 21 goals and provided four assists in 35 Championship starts for Derby, according to WhoScored.
