Aston Villa are only two points off the play-off places now and Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos could add to an exciting young strikeforce.

If Alfredo Morelos did want to bring a premature end to his short-lived spell as Rangers’ talismanic goalscorer, he would not be short of options.
The Scotsman claim that five Championship clubs scouted the Colombian, a £1 million summer signing from HJK Helsinki, as he scored his eighth goal in nine games for the Ibrox giants in the 2-2 draw with Partick Thistle a fortnight ago.
And one potential suitor stands out above Barnsley, Reading, Bristol City and Derby County. Aston Villa are a side back in form at the moment and starting to justify the pre-season predictions that had them ranked as one of the favourites for promotion.

Villa – one of England’s biggest clubs despite their relegation to the second tier in 2016 – are unbeaten in six and it is no coincidence that their recent resurgence has coincided with manager Steve Bruce trusting the young players at his disposal.
Winger Andre Green (below) shone with his creativity and speed before being ruled out for a number of months with injury while Keinan Davis, albeit with only one senior goal to his name, has thrived up front with his aggressive and physicality proving key.

Both players have improved immeasurably under Bruce while the likes of Callum O’Hare also seem to have the manager’s trust. Therefore, 21-year-old Morelos would be joining a side who appear to have discovered a healthy balance of youth and proven experience.
Bruce’s willingness to give Villa’s young players a chance appears to have acted as a catalyst for an improved run of form. Therefore, the prospect of a future partnership between Morelos, Green and Davis is enough to make Villa fans think positively about the future again.
