According to the Telegraph, Steve Bruce will likely seek a reunion with former assistant Steve Agnew if he is appointed by Aston Villa.

The pair previously worked together at Hull City, with Agnew becoming first team coach at Middlesbrough in late 2014.

The 50-year-old is a man of many talents I’m sure, but could his best one be his relationship with one of the most proven Championship goalscorers in recent years?

His nephew Jordan Rhodes has found the net 91 times in 189 second tier appearances to date, and followed him to the Riverside earlier this year.

Rhodes though, has found regular game time hard to come by since Boro’s ascent and is expected to move on if his situation does not improve.

Villa are far from short of strikers however, but may consider a reshuffle if promotion cannot be achieved this season.

Jordan Ayew has already been linked with a move away from Villa Park and is unlikely to stay if Villa remain a Championship side, while Rudy Gestede has not made a Villans’ starting eleven for going on a month now and neither Libor Kozak nor Gabby Agbonlahor are anywhere to be seen.

Things could change drastically in a matter of months though, and a move for Rhodes is perhaps something to keep an eye on.
