Aston Villa reportedly may need to sell Jonathan Kodjia to raise funds so should West Bromwich Albion make a move?

Jonathan Kodjia is one of three Aston Villa stars expected to be sold this summer in order to raise funds for the cash-strapped club, reports the Telegraph.

The Villans need to find at least £40m (and possibly as much as £50m) by selling players over the next two transfer windows in order to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.

Tony Xia, Owner of Aston Villa looks on ahead of the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Sunderland at Villa Park on November 21, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

This means they may have to cash in on some of their biggest stars, with Kodjia joined by James Chester and Jack Grealish on the list of expected departures.

Who should be interested?

Kodjia is a proven performer at Championship level, scoring 18 league goals in his first season in England with Bristol City in 2015/16 and then 19 the following term after making the switch to Villa Park.

The last campaign was far less prolific for the striker as he struggled with injury, but when fully fit there are few better goalscorers in the second tier of English football.

Which is why West Bromwich Albion might consider capitalising on the financial problems of their Midlands rivals and make a move for Kodjia.

Baggies manager Darren Moore is reshaping his squad following the team’s relegation from the Premier League and new signings upfront might be a necessity with both Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez linked with exits by the Mirror.

With promotion the target for the upcoming campaign perhaps Kodjia could be just the player to fire West Brom back to the top flight.
