What is the ceiling for West Ham if they sign Alexandre Lacazette?

West Ham have struck out so far in their attempts to sign a new striker, but it is not for want of trying.
The club have been setting their sights high, with the top name on their list Alexandre Lacazette. SkySports reported they had a bid of £31 million rejected for the striker, and will have to raise that offer to tempt Lyon into selling.
There is a growing feeling among Hammers fans that Slaven Bilic’s side are a top striker away from great success, and if Lacazette signs it is interested to look at what their ceiling might be.

Already last season the Hammers were competing for the top four places, and at one point appeared a good bet to clinch a Champions League spot before falling away late on, finishing seventh.
With a striker capable of scoring 25 goals plus a season on board, West Ham should consider themselves capable of even more.
They have supplemented their side in the creative department, ensuring Manuel Lanzini signed permanently, and Sofiane Feghouli’s arrival on a free transfer.

West Ham could aim for a top four place, but they would surely be doing this anyway with simply their current squad.
Lacazette could give them the ambition to go one better, and follow Leicester City’s lead by shocking the ‘established elite’ clubs and going on to challenge for, and even win the title.

West Ham have a job to convince Lacazette to sign, but if they can talk him into the fact he will be joining real contenders, and really sell the appeal of playing alongside Dimitri Payet, which after his Euro 2016 displays should speak for itself.
