Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday were listed among the frontrunners for Turnbull’s signature.

The future of David Turnbull, the Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday-linked midfielder, appeared to take a fresh twist on Tuesday.
Turnbull has twice been expected to sign for Celtic, who last week broke off talks with the teenager’s agent and have now delivered on their threat to walk away from a deal altogether, according to The Scottish Sun.
The newspaper states that a move to England is now likely for Turnbull, for whom it claimed previously that Sheffield Wednesday were ready to match the Bhoys’ bid.
But could the Owls be forced to sit and watch as one of their Championship rivals (Barnsley and Bristol City have also been linked) or even a Premier League club (so too, Southampton) swoop in for the Motherwell talent?
Wednesday once again find themselves operating under a ‘soft’ transfer embargo, after failing to submit their accounts on time, according to The Sun.

And that is believed to be holding up proposed moves for the out-of-contract duo, Moses Odubajo and Julian Börner.
Surely, then, a £3 million move for Turnbull is currently off the table?
And should it return to it, Sheffield Wednesday may find by that point that he’s another club’s player already. Although perhaps not Celtic.
Will Celtic / Sheffield Wednesday be made to rue their Turnbull failures, if he does go elsewhere?
