Sheffield United are reportedly interested in signing a Peterborough midfielder.

David Brooks has produced some excellent performances for Sheffield United this season and speculation about the young midifelder’s future has inevitably increased as a consequence.

It was reported by The Mirror last month that Premier League sides Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in signing Brooks, who has scored two goals and provided three assists in the Championship this season.

Given the quality that he possesses, it will surely be very difficult for Sheffield United to retain the services of the 20 year old, who has already been capped at senior level by Wales.

It seems that Sheffield United are already preparing for Brooks’ possible departure as they are interested in signing Peterborough United’s Marcus Maddison.

Capable of playing as a winger but most frequently deployed as an attacking midfielder, Maddison has scored five times and provided eight assists in League One this season.

It remains to be seen whether Maddison would be able to step up and produce the same level of performances in the Championship, but the 24-year-old is certainly a talented player and appears to be the most feasible option for Sheffield United to pursue if Brooks is to depart.
