There have been a lot of highs for Tottenham Hotspur since the start of the season. Jose Mourinho’s summer activity was brilliant, while Harry Kane and Son Heung-min’s partnership has made them one of the best teams in the country.
Spurs could mount a serious challenge this term – but they might have to do it without one of their star players. Dele Alli is no longer a key part of Mourinho’s plans, and the Englishman’s time in north London seems to be hanging in the balance.
The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a move away in the final few days of the summer window. French champions Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly interested in signing him on loan, but the move failed to materialise (Telegraph).
Alli has played just twice in the league this term. Both appearances came before the end of the transfer window and the fact he has been left out since has increased speculation surrounding his future.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein addressed the issue on his YouTube show. If his words are anything to go by, a January exit seems likely.
He said: “PSG had a number of loan approaches knocked back by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who really likes Dele and wants him to stay. I think they all agreed they’d try to make this work out, but it hasn’t and isn’t working out.
“There’s been no bust up or fall out, but it feels like he doesn’t suit Jose Mourinho’s structure. It leads me to feel Dele Alli will want to move in January.”

Talking about whether the move might be short-term or permanent, Ornstein said: “If it’s a club at Tottenham’s level or lower, you probably think it will be permanent because if you went there on loan and it didn’t work out well, there’s possibly no way back. But if it was a so-called bigger club like a PSG, a loan would be suitable.”
Alli became a huge hit at Tottenham after his move from MK Dons in 2015. He was one of Mauricio Pochettino’s key men but things have changed under Mourinho.
Spurs fans have voiced their opinions about Alli on social media. Some feel his time at the club is up, while others feel he might come back to haunt them if they sell him in January.
