Glasgow Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield has been linked with a summer move away from Ibrox.

Just days after scoring a hat-trick, Scott Arfield’s Rangers future appears to be up in the air following reports that he could be in line for a return to the Premier League one year after arriving at Ibrox.
The Daily Mail has today reported that Southampton want to sign the Canada international this summer, with the Gers likely to demand around £3 million for the 30-year-old, who arrived from Burnley on a free transfer last year.
After his outstanding display at the weekend, there are likely to be plenty of Rangers fans who would be very disappointed if the club sold Arfield for that amount.
But perhaps Arfield leaving for St Mary’s could prove to be a blessing in disguise for one of his teammates, who is reportedly likely to move on at the end of the season.

The Evening Times recently suggested that Graham Dorrans is one of the players that is set for the exit. But given how little he has played this term, it is surely going to be much tougher for the Gers to offload Dorrans than Arfield.
With that in mind, perhaps Arfield leaving could provide an opportunity for the 31-year-old. Dorrans played in an attacking midfield role earlier in his career, so may perhaps be an outside contender to come into contention if Arfield goes.

It seems that Dorrans faces a huge uphill battle trying to get back into Steven Gerrard’s plans once he is fully fit. Like Jordan Rossiter, he needs to prove that he can be relied on to stay injury free.
But if Arfield moves on and Dorrans stays, one huge obstacle will be removed. And given how difficult it will be to replace Arfield, the idea of Dorrans turning his Ibrox career around off the back of his teammate’s departure perhaps cannot be ruled out.
