The Crystal Palace will be keen to bring in new players this summer, with defensive reinforcements top of the shopping list.

With Crystal Palace still battling for their Premier League survival, manager Sam Allardyce will be likely drawing up lists for multiple possibilities next season. Not knowing what division they’ll be in is likely to greatly affect which players Palace plan to sign in the summer, with many of Allardyce’s targets remaining a mystery.
However, which areas Allardyce needs to strengthen are much easier to figure out. After leaking goals all season, the former Sunderland manager will definitely be looking to bolster his defence this summer, and one club in particular might hold a number of options for Big Sam.
With their Premier League survival also hanging in the balance, things are looking pretty gloomy for Sunderland. The club is currently stuck rock bottom of Premier League, and were recently voted the most likely to be relegated in a recent HITC Sport poll.
With a lot of top players on the books at the Stadium of Light, Sam Allardyce may well be looking at his former club for defensive reinforcements. But which names might appeal to him?
Sunderland’s Jan Kirchhoff
One man could be former defender/defensive midfielder, Jan Kirchoff. The German did an excellent job at the back for Sunderland last season, and provided a really solid base in which Allardyce’s side were able to form an effective style of counter-attacking football.
Out of contract in the summer, the German defender could be just what Crystal Palace need next season, but whether or not they will be able to entice Jan Kirchoff to Selhurst Park will likely depend on the club’s position in the Football League.
