Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers may reportedly lose Josh Windass, but does Steven Gerrard already have a replacement?

Liverpool's midfielder Ryan Kent is pictured during the final Audi Cup football match between Atletico Madrid and FC Liverpool in the stadium in Munich, southern Germany, on August 2, 2017.

It looks like Rangers face a serious fight to keep hold of Josh Windass this summer.

According to The Daily Mail’s Transfer Blog [24/07/2018 13:20], Windass is willing to quit Rangers and is courting interest from a host of clubs from down South – including two in the Premier League.

With that in mind, the Gers, who want £3 million for the English attacker, could be backed into a corner and sell if the price is right it seems.

Losing Windass would be a major blow, considering he scored 18 goals in all competitions for the Ibrox outfit last season. There would be a clamouring by fans for a top-level replacement if Steven Gerrard did offload the 24-year-old, but does Gerrard already have someone to fill the void?

Gerrard praised his addition of Ryan Kent on a season-long loan from Liverpool when speaking to the media yesterday, adding that the 21-year-old can play in a variety of positions – including number 10.

It remains to be seen where the Rangers manager intends on using him, but it doesn’t seem unlikely that he could deploy him in Windass’s playmaker role.

The Blues are well stocked with options on the left and right wing, so a central role seems plausible for Kent and it’ll be interesting to see if he is trusted with the task of replacing Windass, if he goes.
