Arsenal forward Theo Walcott is said to be on Everton’s wishlist.

According to a report in The Sun, Arsenal are set to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City – and that could be good news in Everton’s audacious attempts to sign Theo Walcott.

Arsenal are believed to be closing in on signing Mahrez for £50 million, who wants to leave Leicester this summer.

And Mahrez’s arrival at the Emirates Stadium could work in Everton’s favour, with Walcott on Ronald Koeman’s wishlist.

Koeman is said to have targeted the 28-year-old striker, who he feels would be an excellent addition.

At the moment it is believed that Walcott wants to stay with Arsenal, as he still feels he break into the first-team.

However, Mahrez’s arrival would increase competition for places in Arsene Wenger’s side even further and knock him down the pecking order.

Walcott struggled to hold down a first-team place at Arsenal this season, and Mahrez’s arrival may make him realise that he won’t play regularly enough next term to make it worthwhile sticking around in North London.

And, although Walcott’s arrival at Everton looks unlikely at the moment, there could still be hope for the ambitious transfer to come off this summer.
