The young Tottenham Hotspur striker has been hugely impressive recently.
Tottenham Hotspur have some talented youngsters at their disposal, and that was certainly evident yesterday as they prevailed past Liverpool at U18 level with a 4-0 victory in the Premier League Cup.
Although Reo Griffiths and Dilan Markanday were also on the scoresheet, it was Rodel Richards who was especially impressive, with the talented forward scoring a brace, as reported by The London Evening Standard.
Richards is just 17, but he has developed very well this season and found the net in the UEFA Youth League victory against APOEL Nicosia last month.
While Richards’ progress is undoubtedly a positive for Tottenham, it isn’t quite such good news for another of the club’s young strikers in Shayon Harrison, who could soon be pushed even further down the pecking order at the club.
Harrison, who had a short loan spell at Yeovil Town last season, has scored three goals in seven Premier League 2 appearances for Tottenham this campaign and also featured in the EFL Trophy but has found it very difficult to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
Although Harrison, at the age of 20, is rather more experienced than Richards, it isn’t out of the question that the latter could quickly push ahead in the battle to make the breakthrough at Tottenham.
Richards will hope to continue to catch the eye at U18 level as he aims to show that he deserves to step up to the U23s.
