Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson is being linked with a move to Celtic, as a move to Scotland will see him get a taste of the Old Firm derby against Rangers.

Celtic are seemingly keen on the services of Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson, who is in desperate need of reviving his career, but could the defender follow in the footsteps of Rangers man Jon Flanagan?
The Scottish Mail on Sunday (back page, 16/06) recently claimed that Celtic are interested in a potential loan deal for right-back Jenkinson, who could get a taste of the Old Firm derby against Rangers if he makes the switch.
Just like Flanagan last season, Jenkinson is in need of a new career path and getting back on track after a promising start to his career in England, which has since gone backwards.
Former Liverpool man Flanagan has his own reasons for why his career stagnated at Anfield, as the same could be said for his fullback counterpart Jenkinson, who is still at the Emirates Stadium.
But Flanagan’s decision to move to Rangers last summer was a brave and smart move by the 26-year-old because he endured a strong season at Ibrox last term.
Jenkinson, who is a year older than his fellow countryman, should follow in the footsteps of Flanagan because his career could also spark back into life up in Scotland.

It won’t be a surprise if Flanagan goes from strength to strength next season, as he will be hoping to lift some silverware under Steven Gerrard.
Playing for a team that is seemingly going to seriously challenge for all honours helps, and in Celtic’s case, they have dominated for a while now, so Jenkinson would be walking into a strong environment if here to make the switch.
Either way, Jenkinson has time to prove his worth and turn his carer around. If he opts for Scotland, then from his perspective, it would be a smart choice, but regardless of what happens, his next step needs to be the right one.
