Could Glasgow Rangers bringing one of their striker targets to Ibrox have consequences for their rivals?

Cummings had had a difficult time at the City Ground, and the Gers and the Eagles were keen on offering the 22-year-old a fresh challenge, with Graeme Murty’s men tonight confirming on their official website that they have signed the forward on loan.

So perhaps it would not be out of the question to suggest that Celtic may have been tempted to monitor the situation surrounding Cummings’ future closely, and not because they had been linked with the forward.
It appears that Cummings is not the only striker that Palace have been looking at, with The Sun reporting at the weekend that the Premier League side had made an enquiry regarding Hoops star Moussa Dembele.
The Sun added that while the Bhoys do not want to sell the Frenchman, they could be tempted into discussions by being offered the right price, so perhaps Palace may become more determined to land Dembele now that Cummings has joined Rangers.

While it is not clear who their preferred target was, with Cummings no longer a possibility, they may feel that their mind has been made up for them and concentrate their energy on bringing Dembele to Selhurst Park.
So perhaps there is a slight chance that Rangers’ move for Cummings may prove a key reason why it may ultimately end up being a nervy end to the window for the Hoops.
