Glasgow Rangers are reportedly interested in considering Tony Pulis for the manager’s position at Ibrox.

Pulis is currently out of work after leaving West Brom recently, and the Daily Mirror reports that he would also be interested in considering the Scottish Premiership job if it was offered to him.

For some, the style of play that Pulis is synonymous with would make an appointment a somewhat underwhelming one, but his top flight experience would probably help his cause if he did come in – especially as their manager hunt has not exactly gone to plan thus far.
And could Pulis being appointed ultimately prove to be a masterstroke if he appoints the man whose reputation at Ibrox has been enhanced significantly over the last few weeks as his assistant?
Graeme Murty has arguably done a brilliant job in difficult circumstances and support for him to get the job on a permanent basis has arguably grown over the last few games after they put together a run of four wins in a row, including back-to-back victories over Aberdeen.

The defeat to St Johnstone at the weekend – in conjunction with the losses against Hamilton and Dundee earlier in his spell – perhaps hinted however, that Murty is not quite ready to be the permanent manager at Ibrox.
But with the signs so encouraging for the 43-year-old, it is perhaps fair to suggest that he is not far off being ready to take on that role at some stage, so perhaps giving Pulis the job and making Murty his assistant could be an inspired move.
Murty could build on the attributes he already has and would learn a considerable amount more working alongside someone with Pulis’ experience.
That would mean that, if everything runs smoothly, Pulis could eventually step aside and leave Murty to be the manager that he has threatened to be during his second spell in caretaker charge.
