Glasgow Rangers are reportedly keen to bring Nick Powell to Ibrox during the summer.

It was recently reported by TEAMtalk that Rangers are one of the teams interested in signing Nick Powell as the attacking midfielder enters the last couple of months of his contract.
Powell has been superb in the Championship with Wigan, scoring seven goals and providing six assists in the league. It is not surprising that TEAMtalk has suggested that there is a long list of sides keen on landing the 25-year-old on a free transfer in the summer.
For Rangers, he would be an outstanding signing. Steven Gerrard’s men have been crying out for a number 10 throughout the campaign, and while Scott Arfield was sensational last time out, Powell would certainly provide the Gers’ attack with a significant boost.
But while it would be fantastic for Rangers to land Powell – especially with rivals Celtic also reportedly interested – perhaps his arrival would surprisingly be bad news for one of Gerrard’s other signings.

Kyle Lafferty has endured a mixed first season back at Ibrox. He has struggled to push ahead of Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe, and has found of the back of the net just six times. He has not been a bad signing by any means, but the Gers have probably not quite seen the best of the Northern Irishman since his return.
And given that Powell is just as comfortable playing up front as he is in the attacking midfield role or out wide, it would perhaps be fair to say that Lafferty’s role in the side would become a little more unclear if the Wigan talisman arrived.
