Glasgow Rangers are reportedly keen to bring John McGinn to Ibrox, but David Moyes was a long-term admirer of the midfielder.

McGinn has generally been one of Hibs’ brightest stars since he arrived at Easter Road, and has helped Neil Lennon’s men finish fourth in their first season back in the Scottish Premiership. And it appears that a queue of clubs is forming.

The Record reports that Rangers are keen on the 23-year-old and Gerrard recently sent scouts to have a look at the midfielder – who Lennon reportedly wants £5 million for during the upcoming window.
Another big admirer of McGinn is David Moyes, according to the Record, with the West Ham boss ordering regular scouting of the Scotland international this season. With the Hammers securing another season in the Premier League, it would appear that they would have the financial ability to blow Rangers out of the water if they wished to.
But while West Ham may have more money to spend, perhaps it may not be out of the question to suggest that the likelihood of McGinn moving to the London Stadium has decreased significantly with Moyes’ future in major doubt.

The Daily Mirror is now going as far as to suggest that Moyes will not be in charge of the club any longer with his contract expiring – despite keeping the club in the top flight and helping them to a 13th place finish this term – and given that he appears to be the man who is keen to see McGinn join the Irons, it would not be out of the question to suggest that his exit would end their interest.
It remains to be seen which other teams are keen on McGinn. Once that starts to become apparent, it will become easier to suggest what sort of chance Rangers have of landing the Hibs star – but certainly, Moyes’ seemingly-now-probable departure hints that the Gers may not have to battle with one rival who would have had the potential to pay significantly more if they wanted to.
