Glasgow Rangers are keen to bring Youssouf Mulumbu to Ibrox, but face competition from their Scottish Premiership rivals.

With Rangers fans overwhelmingly impressed with Youssouf Mulumbu’s performance during his last trip to Ibrox, it probably came as little surprise to the Gers faithful that the midfielder is now a summer target for the Light Blues.

It may be a difficult race for Rangers to win, but based on how impressive Mulumbu has been since arriving in the Scottish Premiership, it would be no surprise if Mark Allen had the midfielder right near the top of his list of summer targets.
On paper, Celtic should be the most appealing option for Mulumbu as Brendan Rodgers’ men are clearly the most likely to be able to offer Champions League football next season. But perhaps Rangers could have a potential ace up their sleeve.

In Rangers’ squad for the first time since October at the weekend was Graham Dorrans. The 30-year-old had been impressive before his injury last year so he will be hoping to enjoy a run in the side that will allow him to prove exactly why his arrival last summer was met with such excitement.
And perhaps he could also play a role in Mulumbu’s decision given that the pair played alongside each other at Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion so should have formed a very good understanding that could hugely benefit Rangers if he decided to make the switch to Ibrox.
Rangers’ top flight season looks set to fizzle out in underwhelming fashion, but perhaps they may still be able to land themselves a huge boost heading into next season by winning the race for Mulumbu.
And perhaps it may not be out of the question to suggest that Dorrans’ experience of playing alongside the Killie ace may just make an Ibrox switch all the more tempting when he comes to make a decision on his future.
