Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers were heavily linked with the midfielder in January.

Back in January it was widely reported that Rangers wanted to sign Craig Bryson.

The Record reported that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard wanted the midfielder at Ibrox, though a transfer never materialised.

Then Gerrard signed Glen Kamara and that appeared to be that as far as Bryson was concerned, but could the Gers boss renew interest now?

The 32-year-old is discussing a new contract with Derby County, but if he doesn’t sign it then he’ll be available for absolutely nothing this month.

Do Rangers need him?

In a word, possibly. Kamara has been a smash hit in Glasgow, but speculation has mounted that Brighton might want the 23-year-old to join them this summer [Team Talk].

If – and it might admittedly be a big if – that happens then the light Blues will obviously need a replacement and although Bryson’s best years are behind him, he has still some years left in the tank – and he’d be free.

Bryson, who has three caps for Scotland, may wind up staying at Pride Park, but if Frank Lampard dumps him then Gerrard should definitely consider going back in for him.
