Wes Foderingham could leave Rangers, so should Leeds United bring the goalkeeper in as competition and a mentor for Bailey Peacock-Farrell?
Wes Foderingham is reportedly on his way out of Rangers, with the Scottish Sun reporting manager Steven Gerrard will listen to offers for the goalkeeper.
This comes after Foderingham, who has been number one at Ibrox since joining from Swindon Town in 2015, was told by Gerrard he is now third choice for a place between the posts.
Allan McGregor is first choice after rejoining from Hull City, while Jak Alnwick is considered backup as the new boss shakes things up at the back.
What next for Foderingham?
Before moving to Gers three years ago, the 27-year-old had spent his entire career to date south of the border in English football.
Which is why Leeds United should perhaps consider bringing Foderingham back to England as they search for a new ‘keeper – as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Felix Wiedwald has left for Eintracht Frankfurt after just 12 months at Elland Road and Andy Lonergan is expected to follow the German out of the door.
A deal for Birmingham City’s David Stockdale looks to have fallen through, while Jamal Blackman of Chelsea and Manchester City ‘keeper Angus Gunn are being considered on loan deals.
Yet both Blackman and Gunn are relatively inexperienced and are therefore perhaps not the best mentors/competition for youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who emerged as number one for the Whites towards the end of last season.
This wouldn’t be the case for Foderingham, who has played over 300 career games for Swindon and Rangers and could help Peacock-Farrell progress.
