Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers might have a fight to keep hold of second spot in the Scottish Premiership.

Well, Rangers’ season is probably over.

Steven Gerrard’s side lost 2-1 at Celtic on Sunday to fall 13 points behind the Premiership leaders.

With Rangers knocked out of both domestic cup competitions, it’ll be a trophy-less first season for Gerrard at Ibrox.

It’s been a disastrous few weeks for the light Blues, but could it get even worse before the season is finished?

It seems unthinkable that Rangers will finish lower than second, but Kilmarnock are only six points behind them now.

Alfredo Morelos, who picked up a red card at Parkhead, is now banned for four games, while Ryan Kent could be slapped with a retrospective suspension after his altercation with Scott Brown [The Scottish Sun].

They are easily two of Gerrard’s most influential attacking players and the reality is that Rangers will struggle without them.

Can they hang on to second? You would hope so because there’s nowhere to hide for Gerrard if they don’t, but Killie, who won 5-0 at the weekend, are bang in form and they’ll be up for the challenge.
