Charlie Gilmour is at Arsenal at the moment, but his grandfather hopes that the 19-year-old defensive midfielder ends up at Rangers in the future, according to his recent comments to The Scottish Sun.

Hugh Gilmour, 70, said that he hopes that his grandson, Charlie, plays for the Ibrox club in the future.

The 70-year-old recently told The Scottish Sun: “It would be fantastic, to tell you the truth, I’d love it. Not just because I’m a Rangers supporter but I’d love him to play for a club that size.”

Could Charlie Gilmour move to Rangers?

Gilmour is a Rangers fan, according to The Scottish Sun, and one suspects that he would be tempted to join the Gers in the future if the chance comes up.

Arsenal are a massive club – one of the biggest and richest in the world – but the 19-year-old would find it hard to break into the Gunners’ first-team anytime soon.

The North London club are well stocked in midfield, and they could well make expensive signings in the coming transfer windows.

Charlie Gilmour of Arsenal scores their second goal during the Premier League 2 game between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal on October 23, 2017 in Enfield, England.

Gilmour would have to be patient if he is to break into the Arsenal first team, although he has been part of the senior matchday squad already this season.

Of course, for the time being the 19-year-old should focus only on establishing himself in the Gunners’ first team, but should an option come up to join Rangers on loan, then he should not turn it down.

Maybe, just maybe, in the not-too-distant future, Hugh Gilmour’s dream about his grandson could come true.
