Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers had one player in action for Wales today.

Declan John of Rangers is seen in action during the Betfred League Cup Quarter Final at Firhill Stadium on September 19, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers left-back Declan John enjoyed a fine return to the international fold today.

The 22-year-old, who hadn’t played for Wales in almost four years, was given 90 minutes as Ryan Giggs’s side thumped China 6-0, with Gareth Bale grabbing a hat-trick.

Due to Ben Davies’s inclusion, Giggs played the Rangers defender on the left wing and it will be interesting to see if Gers boss Graeme Murty uses him there when Lee Wallace returns.

Club captain Wallace is due back from injury after the international break and might well displace John.

But the Welshman has given Murty food for thought after his healthy attacking performance on international duty and although it was only against China, it’s worth considering him as a left-wing option from here on in.

He won’t be displacing the brilliant Jamie Murphy any time soon, but it is reassuring to know that John – who has three goals for Rangers from left-back this season – could do a job there if needed.
