Bruno Alves has been tipped to leave Ibrox after just a few months with Rangers – but will Dundee’s Scottish Premiership star be his successor?

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - OCTOBER 22:Bruno Alves of Rangers tackles All Campbell of Motherwell during the Betfred Cup Semi Final at Hampden Park on October 22, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Bruno Alves made it clear that his primary aim for 2018 is to keep his place in Portugal’s squad ahead of the Russia World Cup.

The veteran centre-back has played 94 times for his country and next summer’s festival of football is likely to be the send-off for a storied international career. But Alves is fully aware that, unless his situation at Rangers changes fast, he is in danger of missing out altogether.

And it seems that Rangers already have a readymade replacement in mind. According to the Sunday Post, highly-rated Dundee centre-back Jack Hendry is on the Glasgow giants radar with a boardroom battle with Celtic potentially on the cards.

Per the Scottish Sun, champions Celtic are very keen on the 22-year-old, who signed for Dundee from Wigan in the summer and has been likened to John Stones for his ball playing attributes.

Celtic need a centre-back and manager Brendan Rodgers even described Hendry as ‘excellent’ and the future of Scottish football after his Hoops’ side narrowly edged Dundee 1-0 at Parkhead back in October.

But Hendry would be welcomed with open arms at Rangers too.

Selling one of Pedro Caixinha’s underwhelming, overpriced imports and bringing in one of Scottish football’s most talented young prospects would undoubtedly go down well with the Ibrox fanbase.
