The £12 million man has played 71 minutes for Newcastle United in the Premier League.

News emerging from The Chronicle today sums up Jacob Murphy’s struggles at Newcastle United.
The North-East publication claims that Christian Atsu has been playing with an injury for the past three weeks but it seems as if Rafael Benitez still prefers a semi-fit Atsu over the fully-fit £12 million summer signing.

The 22-year-old winger has been given 71 minutes of Premier League football since joining from Norwich and hasn’t featured in the Magpies’ last three top-flight games, where the Ghana international played ahead of him despite an apparent injury.
With that in mind, you wonder whether Benitez will offer Murphy – who was the Spaniard’s most expensive summer signing – out on loan unless he becomes an important player for Newcastle between now and January.

The St James’s Park club have done this before when Steve McClaren let Florian Thauvin – also signed for £12 million – leave to join Marseille on loan in the January after his substantial move from Ligue 1.
Thauvin hasn’t played a competitive game for the Magpies since and Murphy has it all to do to prevent his Newcastle career from taking a similar route.
