The Tottenham Hotspur centre-back would be a superb summer addition to the Newcastle United squad.
Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez
The Magpies will be heading into next season’s Premier League campaign full of confidence under the guidance of Rafa Benitez, and will be targeting a top-10 finish in the table, despite just being promoted from the Championship.
In order to do that, Newcastle will need to make some smart signings over the next few months, with defensive reinforcements thought to feature highly on Benitez’ agenda.
With this in mind, an interesting option for the Toon could be a loan move for Spurs youngster Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The 19-year-old centre-back is not likely to get a look-in for Tottenham next term, with the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier ahead of him in the pecking order.
And a loan move to St James’ Park could prove to be extremely beneficial, for all parties concerned.
Benitez is quite clearly not entirely content with his central defensive options, with the Grant Hanley and Ciaran Clark’s futures on Tyneside far from certain, and the young American centre-back could be just the ticket for the Toon.
He is an accomplished passer of the football, and incredibly comfortable when in possession. He is cool, calm and collected, and would help bring a level of authority to Newcastle’s back-line, despite his tender years.

With his fantastic leap, Carter-Vickers is incredibly strong in the air, and very quick along the ground, which makes him a superb all-round defender.
It would surely be beneficial for Spurs to allow the 19-year-old to join the Magpies, with his development likely to be stunted if he remains with the Lilywhites, without actually having the opportunity to play regularly.
With the window now open for clubs to begin discussions regarding players, Newcastle should not hesitate in approaching Tottenham pertaining to the potential availability of Carter-Vickers.
And if Benitez manages to bring him to Tyneside, it could turn out to be a real coup.
