Could Baggies move boost boss’s chances of landing Norwich star he failed to sign in January?
Former West Bromwich Albion midfielder Derek McInnes is one of the early bookies favourites to succeed Tony Pulis as manager of the Baggies.
McInnes has worked wonders with Aberdeen, whom he has led to three straight second-place finishes and the 2013 Scottish League Cup.
His appointment would likely lead to a drastic change in playing style, of which West Brom fans would surely approve – as long as results follow suit.
And though there are some footballers to be found in the squad bequeathed by Pulis, McInnes is sure to want a few more on board – if of course he is appointed.
One player who could come into his thinking is Norwich City’s James Maddison, who has scored four goals and created five in 18 games this season.
Everton have already taken a shine to Maddison, according to ESPN, but an abundance of number 10s at Goodison Park could leave a McInnes-led Baggies well-placed to secure his signature.
It was of course McInnes under whom the 20-year-old played while on loan to Aberdeen last season – a spell that yielded two goals and seven assists from 17 outings. And so impressed was the Scottish boss, he tried to bring Maddison back to Pittodrie in January, but to no avail (Scottish Sun).
A move to the west Midlands, not far from where Maddison grew up in Coventry, could see McInnes get his man.
