Could potential future Che Adams call-up make up Celtic’s mind?

Celtic reportedly want deals for Che Adams and Oliver Burke in the summer.

After an underwhelming summer last year, it appears that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has big plans for the next window, with the Daily Mirror recently reporting that the Hoops have sent scouts to watch Che Adams.

The Mirror’s report suggested that Adams could cost around £18 million after a stunning season for Birmingham City in the Championship. But he is not the only player that Rodgers would love to complete a summer deal for.

In comments reported by The Scottish Sun, Rodgers suggested that he would love it if Celtic were able to keep Oliver Burke beyond the end of his loan spell – though he admitted that it is also highly unlikely.

So it would appear that a dream summer for Rodgers would partially consist of deals for Burke and Adams.

Keeping Burke looks a difficult task after the start he has made to his Bhoys loan spell. But if parent club West Brom are promoted, perhaps there may be scope for another loan deal if Darren Moore decides that he is still not quite ready for his Baggies squad.

And of course, spending £18 million on Adams seems unlikely. But Celtic appear to be in a fantastic financial position, and arguably need to show that in the transfer market if they want keep Rodgers happy. He will surely not be short of tempting offers if he considers leaving Parkhead.

Perhaps therefore, the double transfer is not quite impossible. So that makes Alex McLeish’s comments regarding the next Scotland squad seem quite interesting.

He said – in comments reported by the Daily Record – that he was planning to call Burke back into his next squad and had asked about calling Adams up. And while the striker is not ready to commit to the Scots, he has apparently not shut the door on accepting a future call-up.

So while they may not play together in the next international break, perhaps there is a chance that the two forwards will get to link up for Scotland before the summer transfer window gets into full swing.

And if they manage to hit it off – which is a frightening prospect – perhaps Rodgers will be convinced about what his dream summer window would look like, and will be imploring the Celtic board to do everything they can to capture the imagination.
