Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Callum Wilson this summer.
The Sun reported towards the end of last month that Spurs are plotting a £40 million bid for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson as Mauricio Pochettino looks to provide greater competition for Harry Kane.
Wilson appears to have put his injury problems behind him, and finished the most recent campaign with 14 Premier League goals for the Cherries. Unsurprisingly, they are unlikely to let the forward leave on the cheap.
But perhaps recent reports suggest that Pochettino is about to get a helping hand in his pursuit of Wilson thanks to a player who arguably played the best football of his career under the Spurs boss.
The Express and Star reported this week that Eddie Howe iss one of the bosses keen on landing Jay Rodriguez following West Brom’s failure to get promoted out of the Championship this past season.
The report noted that Rodriguez – who was superb during the spell in his Southampton career where Pochettino was in charge at St Mary’s – could potentially be a replacement for Wilson this summer.
There is competition for Rodriguez’s signature. But perhaps if he heads to the Vitality Stadium during the coming months, Spurs making a £40 million bid for Wilson will be more warmly received by the Cherries should they be open to considering offers for their star striker.
