Leeds United have signed Pierre Michael Lasogga on loan from Hamburg for the season.
Lasogga has joined Leeds until the end of the season, with Hamburg keen to get the forward off their books last summer.
However, Hamburg chiefs have now suggested that Lasogga’s future at the club is not necessarily over – and that could be a concern for Leeds.
Lasogga has started brightly at Elland Road, scoring three goals and claiming three assists in his first five Championship appearances.
If Lasogga keeps this sort of form up, then Leeds are more than likely to be wanting to keep hold of him for the long-term.
However, Leeds have first-hand experience of losing a player, after he has impressed for them on loan.
Kyle Bartley was one of the stars of last season for the Whites, but when Thomas Christiansen’s men made a bid for the centre-back this summer, Swansea City batted them away.
Bartley’s value had increased considerably through his performances at Leeds, and the Whites were eventually forced to look elsewhere to improve their defensive options.
And Leeds will be hoping that a similar tale does not unfold, if they do attempt to sign Lassoga permanently next summer.
