With Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha holding out for quality as well as quantity this summer as he attempts to revitalise a below-par Rangers squad, fans may be scratching their heads in response to the latest transfer link.
O Jogo claimed on Sunday that Benfica forward Dalcio was on the club’s radar, despite barely playing a single minute of action for the senior side and boasting a less than prolific record for The Eagles’ reserves.

And supporters may be concerned to learn that Dalcio’s wikipedia page contains only three, minimal paragraphs of text. Clearly, the 21-year-old is far from a household name in Portugal.
Nonetheless, that’s not to say Dalcio would flatter to deceive under his compatriot’s tutelage at Ibrox. The Portuguese attacker is a versatile player, capable of playing on either wing and blessed with quality in possession from his roots as a central midfielder.
And although Dalcio is far from prolific, netting just three times in 33 games for Benfica’s reserves in the second tier last season, Caixinha may believe he has the raw attributes to represent an upgrade for Rangers.
Waghorn has come under fire at times this season
The Daily Record report that the divisive Martyn Waghorn will be made available for as little as £400,000 this summer after all, the hard-working yet erratic frontman failing to win over his manager.
Or, for that matter, much of the Rangers’ support. Despite hitting well over double figures in 2016/17, his presence in the team owed more to his perspiration than his inspiration.
Dalcio could at least redress the balance somewhat – even if he would arrive in Scotland as an unknown quantity.
