The pair have struggled to make an impact since joining Tottenham under Mitchell’s watch.

Yesterday it was reported by the Mirror that former Tottenham head of recruitment Paul Mitchell will be looking to bring some of the club’s young players on loan to his new club. Mitchell has recently been appointed as the new recruitment chief at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

They have already been linked with a move for Spurs youngster Reo Griffiths and it seems that will not be the end of his attempts on Tottenham players.

But could he also offer a reprieve to some senior players at Tottenham who have failed to make the grade?

One that immediately springs to mind is striker Vincent Janssen. The Dutchman headed to the club in a deal reported by Sky Sports to be in the region of £17 million after smashing in goals for AZ Alkmaar and the Dutch national team.

But he struggled in his first season at the club and has had an injury plagued season at Fenerbahce on loan this term.

Mitchell was part of the process in signing Janssen, as Tottenham looked to bring in some back-up for Harry Kane. Whilst the last two seasons have been a disappointment, he did score 31 goals in 44 appearances the season before. This must still have some merit and Mitchell will know all too well what the striker can do, given his role in bringing him to North London.

Another player who Mitchell was a fan of is Georges-Kevin N’Koudou. The French winger was part of a long protracted transfer saga, just as Mitchell was leaving the club. The Guardian reported he cost Spurs a total of £9.4 million.

He has struggled to make any impact at Spurs and is currently on loan at Burnley. He would also be a good signing from RB Leipzig and would join fellow Frenchmen Dayot Upamecano, Ibrahima Konate and Jean-Kevin Augustin at the club.

What is clear, is that neither player has a future at Tottenham Hotspur. But the man pivotal in bringing them to North London might just be able to offer them their escape.
