Glasgow Rangers will be hoping to keep Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox beyond this season.

One of Rangers’ main priorities of the summer will be to keep Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox following a stunning campaign for the Colombian in which he has already scored 29 goals for the Gers.

Given his remarkable tally, it seems inevitable that Rangers will be fielding offers for the 22-year-old. And based on reports from during the January transfer window, it may not be a huge surprise if some of that interest came from Nice.

The Daily Record reported during the month that the Ligue 1 side were plotting an £8 million bid for Morelos as they looked for Mario Balotelli’s replacement.

Of course, the move would not take place. But Morelos’ form since January surely hints that Patrick Vieira could once again be tempted to have a look at bidding for the Rangers talisman – especially as reports suggest he is after a new goalscorer.

So perhaps, it could come down to a Rangers-supporting striker who was on Steven Gerrard’s radar last summer to save the day.

The Sun on Sunday (24/3; page 59) reports that Nice are keen on signing Oli McBurnie this summer, with Swansea looking for around £10 million for the Scotland international.

McBurnie has previously stated that he would love to play for Rangers (via Daily Record), and The Sun even suggested last summer that Gerrard had made a £4 million bid for the forward.

So while McBurnie may not end his wait to play for the Gers this summer, perhaps this latest report regarding his future could do the Gers a huge favour and boost their chances of holding onto Morelos for another year.
