Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly amongst the clubs to recently scout West Bromwich Albion ace Oliver Burke.

The fact that the Scotland international was featuring in a Checkatrade Trophy game rather than a Championship clash certainly tells you something about how his career has stagnated at The Hawthorns.
But Spurs seemingly see something in the £15 million winger that West Brom fans are yet to properly witness. And with Newcastle and Brighton also reportedly attending the game to have a look at Burke, they are obviously not the only ones.
So could Tottenham actually be on the verge of a potential masterstroke by targeting Burke now?
It has appeared inevitable for a while that the former Nottingham Forest starlet would end up plying his trade as a key man in the top flight. And this season is perhaps the first time where there has been a question mark placed over what his future looks like.

His stock appears to be lower than it has ever been, and Darren Moore appears to be the latest West Brom boss to have serious doubts about his current ability.
The alarm bells may be ringing, but that lack of faith from the Baggies manager may also allow Spurs to land Burke for what could potentially prove to be a bargain fee.

If any manager is going to get the 21-year-old back on track, it may well be Mauricio Pochettino. And if the Spurs boss can get him looking much more like the player that tore Championship defences apart during his brief time in the first-team at the City Ground, then it could prove to be an inspired deal in the coming years.
Given Burke’s current situation, it could be deemed a huge gamble to make a move. But with his stock so low right now, perhaps it is a risk that is worth taking despite all of the current warning signs.
