Middlesbrough are chasing Nottingham Forest forward Britt Assombalonga.

According to a report on Sky Sports, Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga has become a transfer target for Middlesbrough.

Garry Monk has put Assombalonga straight to the top of his list of targets at the Riverside, with the powerful striker catching his eye.

Forest are likely to be keen to keep hold of their main attacker, but Boro’s spending power means that they could face a fight.

And if Forest are to lose Assombalonga, he will be very tough to replace.

The Congolese-born forward is a prolific scorer at Championship level, and is considered to be one of the most lethal finishers outside the Premier League.

On Forest’s budget it will be a major challenge to find someone of a similar quality who is available, but a potential swap deal could come about due to Boro’s interest.

Patrick Bamford has struggled at the Riverside Stadium, ever since joining in January.

And a return to Forest could appeal to all parties, as Bamford looks to get his career back on track.

It is expected that Bamford could have an important role to play on Teeside next term, but the Reds should explore the possibility of a Bamford return to the City Ground if they are to part ways with Assombalonga.

Bamford has shown his class at Championship level before, and looks one of the best options potentially available to the Reds, if they are to lose their main marksman.
