The Northern Echo claim that two of Boro’s Championship rivals are fighting it out to sign the Greek stopper, although neither club is named.

The identity of the teams who are interested in Konstantopoulos remains to be seen, but it seems feasible that Nottingham Forest could be one.

The Reds already have Dejan Stojkovic, Jordan Smith and Stephen Henderson on their books – but there are doubts over whether any of the trio will be Mark Warburton’s number one next term.

Konstantopoulos could offer Forest experience and reliability, and that could be crucial as the Midlands side look to make a big improvement next term.
