Both Newcastle United and West Ham United were in the market for attack-minded midfielders in the closing stages of the summer transfer window but failed to complete any deals.

Signed from boyhood side Coventry City in February 2016, Maddison spent time on loan back with the Sky Blues and then with Aberdeen, but under new boss Daniel Farke has really started to shine for the Canaries.
Still only 20-years-old, the Englishman would not necessarily be an instant hit in the top flight, but having made such a rapid development in his career already could turn out to be a genuine star of the future for either Newcastle or West Ham.
