The on-loan Newcastle United winger has made three substitute appearances for Sheffield Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday’s on-loan Newcastle United winger, Rolando Aarons, looks the player most likely to profit from Fernando Forestieri’s one-match suspension.
Forestieri will miss Wednesday’s visit of Swansea city on Saturday after he was shown two yellow cards during the Owls’ 2-2 draw at Rotherham United.
And with few other Owls players possessing the Argentine’s unpredictability, that responsibility could now fall on Aarons’ shoulders.
The 23-year-old moved to Hillsborough alongside his Newcastle teammate, Achraf Lazaar, at the end of last month, but is the only one of the pair to have featured so far for Steve Bruce’s side.
He has, though, appeared in three of Bruce’s four matches in charge of Sheffield Wednesday, in which they have gone on to collect an extra three points with Aarons on the pitch.
And it was his cross which caused the initial panic inside Rotherham’s box before Dominic Iorfa’s last-gasp equaliser at the New York Stadium.
Bruce has, however, hinted he is ready to tweak his system in the coming few games.
Although, even if the Owls are to change things up against Swansea – whose squad could form a competent 4-x-110-metres relay team – it is hard to see a player with Aarons’ pace not being required from the start.
