The Brentford midfielder’s future at Griffin Park is in doubt, with Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly keen on a move.

If it had not been for that dreadful injury in 2016, who knows where Alan Judge and Brentford might be right now. The creative midfielder was instrumental for the Bees when fit, and Dean Smith’s side have missed his goals and artistry on the pitch recently.

However, with the midfielder’s contract set to expire in the summer, as he looks to get back to full fitness, Brentford may well struggle to keep hold of the Republic of Ireland man, with club’s potentially waiting in the wings to do a deal at the end of the season.

According to reports from Sky Sports, both Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion were keen on doing a deal for the midfielder last month, as the Bees man looks to come back from his leg break injury.

Rafa Benitez could do with another player who can fit the number 10 role, as a back-up and competition for midfielder Mo Diame. With their sights set on a return to the Premier League, Newcastle United are likely to have the funds to be able to look elsewhere, however Judge’s record at Championship level is proven, after scoring 24 goals during his time at Griffin Park.

Brighton & Hove Albion could also be set to move again for the versatile midfielder in the summer, as they look to strengthen a squad that also looks to be heading for the Premier League. Chris Hughton’s side have been one of the top performers in the transfer market over the past few years, bringing in quality players for cheap, such as Anthony Kncokaert and Glenn Murray.

So could Brentford be facing a tough task to keep hold of Alan Judge in the summer? Could he be set for a move to Newcastle United or Brighton? Or perhaps another Championship side will come in for him when his contract expires?
